Come Hell or High water II

Well I eventually made it up to Pulaski NY after a nine hour car ride. If I had known traffic would have been this bad I could have driven to Canada to fish for Salmon... but as they say hindsight is 20/20. As I drove home very happy having only moment earlier hooking and landing a 27inch long steelhead with a 17 inch girth I begin to think what a truly crazy weekend it was indeed. The nine hour trip up only to be met by high water cold weather and lack of sun? I begin to think just how crazy life is and thought would I do it all again?

Face the traffic miles of walking cold weather snow rain etc.. for a split second? I thought I would do it all again without a doubt if I knew it was going to end as successful. If I had the guarantee of such a beautiful fish using traditional Spey fishing tactics.

Only then did I realize for that split second that I was exhausted hungry and weathered from the elements and momentarily not thinking soundly. The true beauty the reason that I deal with the traffic weather lack of sleep is because there is NO guarantee that you will be successful.

Come Hell or high water

I guess you could say that I am stubborn but my mind was already made up. I decided last weekend that come hell or high water I was gonna leave Jersey City early Friday to break the Spey rod and hit the Salmon River in Pulaski.

Fast forward to a week later and here is the update:

The Salmon River have gone from 350 CFS(cubic feet a second) to 2300 CFS. That means that I will basically be doing a lot of fishing from the bank … not a big issue. It is supposed to rain and they have received 2 inches of rain in the last 24hrs not a real issue as I don't mind fishing in the rain however the forecast has now changed from rain to snow. LoL can I make this stuff up?

I plan on having a good weekend and will plan on keeping people updated given I don't drown
